The Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant Headworks and Wet Weather Equalization Facility project replaced the plant’s existing headworks, increasing influent capacity to 752 million gallons per day.
In addition, improvements address stormwater run-off and hydraulic restrictions at the plant to prevent backups and overflows to the wastewater system during storm events. Further protections include equalization storage tanks to handle future wet weather flows and increased equipment redundancy.
